CGTC Women’s Basketball Routs Albany Tech to Advance to GCAA Championship on Friday
Americus, Ga. — The Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) women’s basketball team advanced to the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) championship game Thursday night with a 96–70 victory over Albany Technical College in the conference tournament semifinals.
The Titans delivered a strong offensive performance throughout the contest, pulling away in the second half to secure the 26-point win and continue their postseason run.
CGTC set the tone early, using aggressive defense and efficient scoring to build momentum against Albany Tech. The Titans’ balanced offense produced multiple scoring runs that allowed them to steadily extend their lead and control the pace of the game. By the final buzzer, the Titans had amassed 96 points.
Several Titans players contributed key performances in the semifinal victory, with CGTC placing multiple players in double figures.
Leading scorer, Amira Walters-Smith, a second-team all-conference performer in 2026, led scoring with 24 points, Aryana Thomas filled the stat sheet with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists, and 6 steals. Lyric Green, a first-team all-conference selection, also contributed a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds.
The team’s depth proved decisive, as it maintained pressure on Albany Tech on both ends of the floor throughout the game.
With the victory, the Titans advance to the GCAA Tournament Championship, where they will face South Georgia Technical College. The championship matchup is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, March 13, in Americus, Georgia.
The winner of the conference championship will earn the GCAA’s automatic berth to the NJCAA Women’s National Tournament in Lake Charles, Louisiana, March 24-31.
