CGTC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Players Earn Early Season Conference Honors 

 

Laterria “Lyric” Green Leads Women’s Basketball GCAA Conference with Four Player Of the Week Honors, and Men’s Roosevelt Brown Earns December Recognition 

Warner Robins, Ga. - Titans basketball players on the Men's and Women’s teams have started the season hot, with a pair of individual honors.  

 

The Georgia Collegiate Athletic Conference (GCAA) selected Men’s guard, Roosevelt Brown as its Men's Player of the Week for the first week of December. Brown averaged 20.6 pts, 6 rebs, 4.6 assts, and 1.3 steals, in three games for the Titans to close out November. Brown is fourth in scoring in the conference at 17.7 ppg.  

 

On the Women’s side, Laterria “Lyric” Green is hitting a sweet offensive rhythm, and for the four out of five weeks in the season, has been selected as Women's Player of the Week for GCAA. Green’s latest average of 20 points, 15 rebounds and 1 block, in 2 games for the Titans last week, earned her the December Week 1 honors.  

 

Offensively, the Women’s Basketball team is on a stronger pace than last season. Their 6-3 overall record boasts an 87 ppg, 35.1 percent from three, with more than 16 assists per game. Green averages a double-double, contributing 18.7 points and 14.8 rebounds. Teammate, Amirah Smith-Walters, leads the team in scoring at 21 points per game and earned Player of the Week honors in Week 1.  

 

The Women’s team takes on Young Harris (JV) on the road on Sunday, December 7, at 2:00 pm.  

 

The overall record of 3-4 for the Men’s team took a dip to close out November with three straight losses, but the Titans look to bounce back in two home games this week. December 3 vs. Denmark Tech at 7 p.m. and Florida Gateway College at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Both games are in Titans Arena in Macon.
