Titans Strike Big in Mercer University Invitational

Macon, Ga. – In their third meet of the season, the CGTC cross country teams continued to blaze the course this weekend in the Mercer University Julius Johnson Invitational's National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) competition.

Taking the trails first, the Titans came out strong and never looked back in their win against Brewton-Parker College. Freshman Luis Alvarado won his third-consecutive race of the year with a time of 29:11. Andrew Bos (30:44) placed second, Chrystian Trauth (31:03) placed fourth, Josh Flores (31:24) finished sixth, Zak Brown (31:37) finished seventh, Tretavious Jones (32:17) placed eighth, Logan Ward (32:41) finished 10th, and Brandon Bill (36:31) finished 17th.

In the second NAIA and NJCAA race, freshman Anna Ashe exerted her dominance with her second-straight victory in the women's 5k. Ashe tied her personal record of 21:12 set in the previous meet. Freshman Gabrielle Heaton finished with a time of 28:32, while sophomore Megan Maxey finished at the 29:45 mark.

The men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the Georgia Southern University GATA XC Classic on Friday, September 23 in Statesboro, Georgia.
