Macon – In just their second meet of the 2020 season, the CGTC men's and women's cross country teams have found their stride as they reigned supreme in the GMC Brickyard Invitational on Friday, September 11 in Milledgeville.
Having made a strong appearance in their season-opener a week ago, both teams were able to transfer their momentum over into this week with impressive individual and team performances.
With seven runners finishing in the top-10, the CGTC men's cross country team earned a first-place team finish over Thomas University and Georgia Military College.
Freshman Luis Alvarado (29:22) led the Titans with his second-consecutive first place finish this season. Rounding out the Titans' top-10 finishers in the men's 8k were: Zak Brown (30:14) in third place, Andrew Bos ((30:46) in fourth place, Josh Flores (31:06) in sixth place, Tretavious Jones (32:33) in seventh place, Logan Ward (32:34) in eighth place, and Chrystian Trauth (33:04) in ninth place.
In the women's 5k, freshman Anna Ashe earned her first individual win of the season. Leading the pack with a definitive lead the entire race, Ashe notched a first place finish and new personal record with a time of 21:12. Ashe's time eclipsed her previous PR set last week by 20 seconds.
Both teams will compete again on Saturday, September 18 in the Mercer University Julius Johnson Invitational at the Georgia Premier Cross Country Course in Macon. The men's 8k will begin at 8:00 a.m., followed by the women's 5k at 8:45 a.m.
