Macon – The CGTC men's and women's cross country teams made their mark on the course this weekend in the MGA Invitational season-opener.
Eager to repeat last season's win, the men's team fell just short of their goal with a second-place overall finish against Brewton-Parker College and Georgia Military College.
In a field of 28 runners, CGTC had four top-10 finishers in the men's 8k race. Freshman Luis Alvarado blazed the trail with a first-place finish with a time of 29:44. Josh Flores (31:08) finished in fourth place, Chrystian Trauth (31:58) finished in ninth place, and Andrew Bos (32:12) had a 10th place finish.
In the women's 5k race, freshman Anna Ashe came up strong for the Lady Titans with a second-place finish. Ashe recorded a personal record completing the race with a time of 21:23.
Both teams will be back in action on Friday, September 11, as they compete in the Georgia Military College (GMC) Brickyard Invitational at Council Farms in Milledgeville. The women's 5k starts at 6:00 p.m., followed by the men's 8k at 6:40 p.m.
