CGTC Men’s Basketball Loses on Final Possession of GCAA Tournament Final
Macon, Ga. — A turnaround lay-up by Titans freshman, Kaziaes Hemphill, with 1.1 seconds left on the clock rolled everywhere on the rim but in on Saturday afternoon, and the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) Tournament title fell out of CGTC's grasp.
The tightly contested game between the top two seeds went down to the wire. Back-and-forth possessions by both the Titans and SGSC led to a furious final minute of the second half.
Sophomore Evrad Makendi stole an inbound pass with under 27 seconds and dunked the ball for a one-point lead, at 74-73. The ensuing SGSC possession earned a trip to the free-throw line, and SGSC took the lead, 75-74, as the game's final score.
The Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) men’s basketball team opened the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) Tournament with a 75–65 victory over Southern Crescent Technical College on Tuesday night at Titans Arena, advancing to the conference semifinals, and pulled off an overtime victory, 71-64, on Friday night over Gordon State to advance to Saturday's final.
The tournament final appearance for the Titans was the first since the 2019-2020 season.
The Titans finish the 2025-2026 season with a 24-7 record.
